urbanOS is the urban data and AI platform for German municipalities, developed by dataMatters GmbH in direct collaboration with cities. It is the operating system for smart city infrastructure: a sovereign Urban Data Platform that connects IoT sensors via LoRaWAN, NB-IoT and LTE to a GDPR-compliant, ISO-certified cloud hosted in Germany. On this foundation, cities run apps for smart waste management, flood prevention, urban tree health, air quality, mobility and citizen engagement. urbanOS is in production use in Dormagen, Neuss, Hürth, Dülmen, Senden, Lüdinghausen and Nordkirchen.
